Background
The restaurant was closed for a week of maintenance ahead of reopening. Multiple kitchen repairs were scheduled.
The challenge
Inspection showed the sub-floor had deteriorated beyond patch repair. A full replacement had to be sourced, programmed and completed inside the remaining closure — or the reopening would slip.
What we did
- 1Advised full floor replacement and re-sequenced the programme to complete it during the closure rather than in out-of-hours shifts.
- 2Procurement team sourced additional levelling compound at short notice.
- 3Stripped defective Altro and skirting, applied latex screed, fitted cap-and-cove and new Altro safety flooring with welded seams.
- 4Reinstated and reconnected kitchen equipment ready for reopening.
Results
- Before reopening — Delivered inside the closure window
- Normal hours — No out-of-hours premiums
- Lower cost — Versus phased night-time works
