Kitchen floor rebuilt before a one-week reopening — in normal hours, at lower cost

What started as a list of kitchen repairs revealed a failed sub-floor. We recommended a full replacement, brought the work forward into the closure and finished before the doors opened.

Background

The restaurant was closed for a week of maintenance ahead of reopening. Multiple kitchen repairs were scheduled.

The challenge

Inspection showed the sub-floor had deteriorated beyond patch repair. A full replacement had to be sourced, programmed and completed inside the remaining closure — or the reopening would slip.

What we did

  1. 1Advised full floor replacement and re-sequenced the programme to complete it during the closure rather than in out-of-hours shifts.
  2. 2Procurement team sourced additional levelling compound at short notice.
  3. 3Stripped defective Altro and skirting, applied latex screed, fitted cap-and-cove and new Altro safety flooring with welded seams.
  4. 4Reinstated and reconnected kitchen equipment ready for reopening.

Results
